Music Education Makes Our Day!

We at Stubbs' Music Center (SMC) are in our 43rd year of providing the best music education to the Tallahassee community and surrounding areas.  Music is the only universal language that is available to us; therefore when it comes to choosing your students activities it is our hope that music education will be one of the activities that is chosen.  Through music classes and private instruction this universal language will be taught by one of twenty professional music educators within the finest facilities available.  Music Education is a vital part of every person's life.  We strive to prepare our students to reach his/her greatest potential and to become actively involved in the music that surrounds our lives.  More than 2,300 years ago, Plato said, "Music is a more potent instrument than any other form of education and children should be taught music before anything else"

MACLAY SCHOOL:  We are beginning our TWENTY-SIXTH year of service to Maclay Students.  In addition to the Fine Arts program at Maclay School, pre-k and kindergarten students are offered Jingle Jam or private piano.  During the school day all the students are picked up at Maclay and transported to 1260 Timberlane Road, where the instruction is given.  Then the students are returned to Maclay.  The students are scheduled by grade level and at a time that does NOT conflict with academic subjects.  There are several important facts that you need to be aware of as you consider this opportunity.
  • Participation is voluntary.
  • Students sign up by the SMC semester.
  • Only upper school students receive their Fine Arts credit for graduation and a grade each nine weeks.
  • Students may be asked to participate in various programs at Maclay.
  • Tuition is payable directly to Stubbs' Music Center by check, Visa, Mastercard.
  • Parents must sign a transportation permission form.  To view prospective parent letter click- Parent letter.
SCHOOL of ARTS AND SCIENCE:
In the fall of 2005, we began offering private piano instruction to the students involved in the school of Arts and Science.  Mr. Jeff Henry, a jazz pianist, provides all the instruction in private/group lessons.  Each student has a weekly thirty-minute private lesson and a weekly group theory class. (1) Participation is voluntary. (2) All lessons are billed by the semester and paid directly to Stubbs' Music Center. (3) Students may be asked to perform in an assembly program. Parent Letter
SCHOOL FOR YOUNG CHILDREN:  In the summer of 2006 we began offering weekly general music education classes for all students attending the School for Young Children as part of it's core curriculum.
